75,000 people access safer chillouts guide
In a unique collaboration between The Love Tank and Grindr4Equality, over 75,000 Grindr users accessed harm reduction information about safer drug use.
Via an inbox broadcast, provided by Grindr4Equality, users of the dating app could link straight through to The Love Tank’s Little Back Pocket Guide to Safer Chillouts. More than 75,000 UK users of the app accessed the information across a 72-hour period.
The Guide provides information on the law, chillout after-care, alternatives to chillouts, safer dosing information, and other harm reduction information. It is also available in Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and Italian.
Ben Weil, Head of Research and Community Knowledge Generation at The Love Tank, and the Guide’s author says:
“It’s thought that, in London alone, three people lose their life every single month to a chems-related overdose. Harm reduction information received today might prevent a fatal overdose tomorrow and helps make scenes, which should be about fun and connection, less risky and more caring. Thanks to this collaboration, in just three days, tens of thousands of people discreetly got to know more about chillout safety and wellbeing and helped us reach the right people at just the right time”.
Will Nutland, Director of The Love Tank says:
“At a time when harm reduction information is being censored by major tech apps, this collaboration with Grindr4Equality ensures that life-saving information gets right into the hands of people who need it. Harm reduction tools save lives - censorship kills”.
